Don't miss this blues rock sensation.
What the critics say
Blues Matters/Classic VR Radio (Scotland) “Blues-Rock power trio based music, nice work here – I think this album is a grower”
Get Ready to Rock “It’s on the core rock, blues outings that he comes into his own as he digs deep to conjure up some steely licks”.
Hifi Plus “A major talent to the world of the blues, someone with outstanding gifts as a songwriter, singer & guitarist”.
Classic Rock Mag. "Chubby's heart is as big as his waistline, & those meaty fingers can not only negotiate a guitar fretboard, but make it sing. He's scorching , soulful & if you find modern blues is all a little pofaced, take a special delivery from the big man himself.”
ROCK n REEL "The quality of Popa's guitar playing is totally unquestionable. On Deliveries After Dark he plays with even more style than usual, sprinkling explosive lines all over his belting thirteen-tracker".
Sunday Life (Belfast) “He is the self-proclaimed King of NYC Blues, peddles very passable blues rock with some stinging guitar work and tongue in cheek lyrics.”
Guitar Mag. An exuberant menagerie. Refreshing wit, & down to earth honesty.”
Net Rhythms I’ll leave you with words from the man – “All I can tell you is you need rock and roll in your soul and I am the man in control. Are you ready to rock?
Blackpool Gazette “He’s larger than life & plays a mean mixture blues, jazz, rock & funk”
Blues in the South "If you like your blues inflected rock with guts and panache, this is for you".
Burton Daily Mail “Popa is a big man with a big sound who delivers 13 tracks with boundless energy & brash confidence”.

Here is a review from Alan Dorey of forest FM radio after seeing Jay Tamkin band play at Stan Webbs gig @ The Tivoli Theatre
The current tour bowled into The Tivoli, Wimborne, this week - a fine old theatre that like Stan The Man - has been through a revival and is quite a spot to catch great bands and musicians on the touring circuit.

Support was provided by the extremely promising Jay Tamkin & The Crackers, a three piece blues-rock band with more than a passing touch of Cream about them. Tamkin, a proud Devonian who's only 21, can sing and play blues guitar with the best of them. With some excellent self-penned material such as Troubles, Come On and Thief, the future looks bright - and I'm sure they'll acquit themselves well on a German tour where they're supporting the resurrected Spooky Tooth.

Here is a review of the gig by Paul Stiles for BLUES IN BRITAIN
Wet and windy it may have been, but the faithful turned up to fill the theatre at the start of another season of Blues at the Limelight in Aylesbury.
Jay Tamkin & The Crackers had driven up from Torbay to open the evening’s proceedings and open it they did, in style. With only a short time slot the three piece of Jay Tamkin (Fender Stratocaster and vocals), Pete Searle (Bass) and Nick Ramos Pinto (Drums) got straight into action with a Zappa-esque instrumental to get everybody warmed up. They then ripped through one of their own compositions “Trouble Maker”. CD plugs followed and they played three tracks from the “Live & Tetchy!!” album, which sold in large quantities later in the evening. They closed with their working of “Voodoo Chile”, also on the CD, which was very well received. You’ll find the boys opening for a number of well known names during 2008 and I recommend you get along to catch them in action.

A recent development for the Blues Show is the number of artists keen to come to the studio to record Live sets. In recent months, we've welcomed Hamilton Loomis, Derrin Nauerndorf, Ian Parker, The Boogie Men, Brazilian Big Gilson, Sherman Robertson, Ian Siegal, Dave Arcari, The Spikedrivers, Rob Tognoni, Racing Cars, Aynsley Lister, Steve Arvey and Blue Traffic to our studio. We've now established contact with an Indie studio and had a Live session recorded there by Jay Tamkin, an incredibly talented performer from the South West just a few days ago. This session and the interview we recorded will feature on the show in a week or two but to give you a taster, we'll be playing one of the tracks on tonight's show. We were very impressed and so will you be!
Thanks Bob & Norm!
